PHP has a critical remote takeover flaw: patch today

Update to PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35, then restart the web server.

LiteLLM 1.107.0 steals cloud and AI keys

Pin litellm 1.106.2. If 1.107.0 ran anywhere, rotate that machine's keys.

The short version

  • If your website runs on PHP, ask whoever looks after it to update PHP today.
  • If your team builds AI apps in Python, make sure nobody installed LiteLLM 1.107.0. Any machine that ran it needs new passwords and keys.
  • Install the updates your computer, phone and browser offer. Some security certificates could be faked this week, and updates carry the fix.
  • Running Plex at home or GitLab at work? Both need updating now.

Today's stories

CRITICAL

PHP2Shell: patch PHP today

Two flaws in PHP itself let a stranger take over a web server with a single request, and attackers started trying them within hours. Anything that runs PHP is exposed, from WordPress and Laravel sites to hosting panels. Update to PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35 and restart Apache or PHP-FPM; on distro packages, check the changelog lists CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619. PHP Foundation (opens in a new tab)

CRITICAL

LiteLLM 1.107.0 shipped a credential stealer

The popular Python library for AI models (about 23 million downloads a week) was published with hidden code that steals cloud keys, SSH keys and AI tool logins whenever Python starts, including in its official Docker images. Pin litellm 1.106.2 and pin image digests. If 1.107.0 ran anywhere, rebuild that machine and rotate every secret it could read. Socket (opens in a new tab)

eMudhra certificate keys: update your tools, not just your browser

Eight eMudhra certificate keys were weak enough for anyone to forge HTTPS certificates. Browsers and Windows already block them, but command-line tools and runtimes need updates: Node 26.12.1 / 24.22.1 / 22.23.4, Go 1.27.3 / 1.26.10, certifi 2026.10.19, pip 26.2.2, uv 0.13.4 and your distro's ca-certificates. Java, Bun and macOS's built-in curl are still waiting on fixes. Patch tracker (opens in a new tab)

GitLab CVSS 10 flaw on self-hosted servers

A bug in GitLab's regular-expression compiler, CVE-2026-110264, can let someone without an account run code on a self-managed server, on every release since 7.0. No attacks reported yet, and GitLab.com is already fixed. Upgrade to 19.5.1, 19.4.3, 19.3.6 or your branch's fix (down to 18.11.13). GitLab (opens in a new tab)

Attackers are breaking into old Plex servers

CISA confirmed four chained Plex Media Server flaws are being used to install crypto-miners, alongside exploited bugs in Siemens Software Center and SiteGuard. Update Plex to 1.43.3.10861 or later. BleepingComputer (opens in a new tab)

TiDB Cloud breach: rotate your API keys

PingCAP says attackers copied customer contact, billing and encrypted API-key data between 9 September and 7 October, but found no sign customer databases were touched. TiDB Cloud owners should replace their management API keys and expect targeted phishing. PingCAP (opens in a new tab)
